Archdiocese of San Francisco welcomes Angela Johnson as Associate Superintendent of Elementary Schools
The Archdiocese of San Francisco is pleased to announce that Angela Johnson, Ed.D. will join the Archdiocese as the Associate Superintendent of Elementary Schools on August 28.
As a Catholic education leader, Dr. Johnson brings to this position a wealth of experience at all levels of education. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Superintendent of Mission and Catholic Identity at the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston in Texas. Her experience includes supporting the accreditation process for all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, working closely with the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department.
“Angela understands the vision of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of San Francisco,” said Chris Fisher, superintendent of the Department of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of San Francisco. “We look forward to her contributions as she works closely with our elementary school leadership to support the integration of Catholic faith and culture into the life of our schools.”
Johnson’s education and professional experiences have a particular focus on special education needs for culturally and linguistically diverse students. Previous to her work in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, she was appointed as the first lay principal of a 64-year-old Catholic special education school in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
The Archdiocese of San Francisco Department of Catholic Schools (DCS) provides support to more than 24,000 students and nearly 2,300 teachers, principals, and school staff. In collaboration with parents, pastors, parish leadership, and the faith community, Catholic schools teach and model Gospel values and the faith of the Catholic Church, forming witnesses of Jesus Christ through comprehensive religious, academic, co-curricular and service programs.
