We stand up for justice for the human person from conception through natural death
The Office of Human Life and Dignity embodies the teachings found within the parable of the Good Samaritan by seeing injustice as a personal call to action, and making a commitment to relieving the needs of the suffering person. This Office provides education and advocacy on behalf of the unborn, the poor, the elderly, the imprisoned, the homeless, the disabled, the immigrant, and the marginalized in our society.

Advocacy is the pursuit of influencing outcomes that directly affect people’s lives and situations. This includes helping shape or change decisions in public policy that directly affect our political, economic and social systems. Many times these policies and decisions are intertwined with our Catholic faith, giving us the opportunity to be witnesses in carrying out the Church’s mission through our promotion of what is just.
In addressing the plight of those around us, we are truly living out Christ’s message to love
and serve all those in need. Our faith calls us to be advocates for justice in our own
communities, as well as for those across the world.
The Office of Human Life and Dignity supports community organizing as a tool to develop leadership and deeper relationships around issues that affect the dignity and respect of the human person from conception to natural death. Community organizing utilizes the tools given to us by our faith and our experiences.
We work with our parishes and all people of good will for affordable housing, fair treament of immigrants, workers, those who are homeless, and many other issues that require social action.
"Christian anthropology reveals the inviolable dignity of every person and places the realities of work, economics, and politics into an original perspective that sheds light on authentic human values while at the same time inspiring and sustaining the task of Christian witness in the varied areas of personal, cultural and social life...the Church's social doctrine shows how the moral basis of all social action consists in the human development of the person and identifies the norm for social action corresponding to humanity's true good and as efforts aimed at creating the conditions that will allow every person to satisfy his integral vocation." (Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church, #522)
