Encuentro is a four-year process of missionary activity, consultation, leadership development and pastoral discernment in parishes, dioceses and episcopal regions that culminates with a national event. A primary outcome of the Encuentro process is to discern pastoral practices and priorities to impact the quality of ministry among Hispanic/Latino Catholics, under the leadership of the U.S. bishops. ~ USCCB
On September 17, 2016, the Archdiocese of San Francisco took one of the first steps towards the V Encuentro, with a meeting at the University of San Francisco (USF) of the parish leaders from the three counties that are part of the Archdiocese: San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin.
On February 18, 2017, leaders from 14 of the nearly 40 parishes with Latino Ministry participated in a meeting at Saint Mary´s Cathedral where the parish guide for evangelization of the V Encuentro was distributed by the Coordinator of the Office of the Latino/Hispanic Ministry, Cecilia Arias.
Parishes presently engaged in the V Encuentro process are: All Hallows, Epiphany, St. Boniface, St. Bruno, St. Matthew, St. Paul of the Shipwreck, St.Pius, St. Raphael, and St. Timothy.

"V Encuentro: Hispanic/Latino leaders in archdiocese prepare for 4-year evangelization project,"by Lorena Rojas, San Francisco Católico, September 29, 2016
God of Mercy,
You that went out to encounter
the disciples on the way to Emmaus,
grant us a missionary spirit
and send us forth to encounter
our brothers and sisters,
to walk along beside them,
listen to their hopes and dreams,
rekindle their faith
with the fire of your Word,
prepare them to recognize you
in the Eucharist
and send them as missionary disciples
to share the joy of the Gospel
to present and future generations
of every race, language and culture.
We ask you this
from our burning hearts
filled with the Holy Spirit,
in the Name of your beloved Son
and through the intercession of our Mother,
Mary of Guadalupe
Star of the New Evangelization
Amen.
