Stella Maris Students win awards for Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest
Stella Maris students again earned top honors in the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest.
This year, the students wrote their history essays on American musical composer, and 17th Director of the “The President’s Own” Marine Band John Philip Sousa (1854-1932).
For the third year in a row, Stella Maria Academy students won first place at the Presidio Chapter and District III Level of the Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest.
5th Grade Winner – John James Adamson6th Grade Winner – Natalie Grace Arriola
8th Grade Winner – Sophia Pham
All three essays are currently in the running for first place at the state level. Natalie Arriola earned first place in California in 2023, with current Stella Maris seventh-grader Maria Sainz winning second place in the nation in 2023.
